School Nutrition Programs (NSLP/SBP)

School Nutrition Programs include the School Breakfast Program (SBP), National School Lunch Program (NSLP),  Afterschool Care Program (ASCP), and Special Milk Program (SMP) which are federally assisted programs that provide school meals and single-serve milk to Texas children in school and residential child care institutions. Only lunch, breakfast, and snacks are represented on this dashboard. Please refer to the original Meal Reimbursement datasets for School Nutrition Programs to find Special Milk Program data.
The program year for School Nutrition Programs is July 1 through June 30.

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) reimburses day care home providers, adult day care centers, and child care centers including at-risk after school programs, Head Start sites, emergency shelters, and sites serving meals outside school hours for part of the cost associated with serving approved meals and snacks to children and adults in Texas.
The program year for CACFP is October 1 through September 30.

Summer Meal Programs (SSO/SFSP)

The Summer Meal Programs include the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) which support community organizations and businesses in providing no cost meals to children and teens 18 years old and younger in low-income areas when school is out of session.
The program period for Summer Meal Programs is typically May through September. Site operation depends on when area schools are out of session. SSO may be approved to provide meals during the school year under extenuating circumstances.
